Nostalgic Technology of the 2000's
The 2000's really was a decade of the digital revolution. With the evolution of smartphone devices, digital media, entertainment and advancement of internet access. This blog shows release dates of some technologies from the 2000's we all loved- perhaps still used, or missed.
First Apple iPhone- 2007
A critical movement in the smartphone boom, the first generation iPhone was released in 2007. This changes expectations for customers with their smartphones, offering a touchscreen surface and access to multiple apps at a time. The iPhone also made it easy to capture moments with the built in mobile phone camera. By the late 2000's, camera phones became a standard feature. This helped with the development of visual communication platforms and the growth of social media platforms- like Facebook, founded in 2004.
iPod- 2001
We couldn't talk about apple without mentioning the iPod- an evolution of the previously popularised MP3 player. However the small and sleek design made it easier to take with you. My first experience with iPods was the nano 4 released in 2008. The fun coloured iPods were a stapple in the late 2000s. I wasn't cool enough for my own pink one but definitely stole my brothers blue one.
Nintendo DS- 2004
The DS was one of the first portable game consoles, the durability of the console made it more appropriate for younger players. The vast access to a range of different games including, super Mario bros, cooking mama and Tetris allowed for hours of fun. To date, over 150 million DS consoles have been sold, with the majority being in the mid 2000's.
Nintendo Wii- 2006
Again, Nintendo couldn't be mentioned without discussing the Wii. The 2000's was the golden era for video games with the introduction of multiple game consoles. The motion sensing game play made this fun and interactive to play with games. Who could forget the multiple weekends spent playing Wii sports for hours with friends.
Blue- ray Disc- 2006
The blue- ray disc was initially introduced as a research project in the early 2000's but eventually became the go-to format for high definition video. I never really owned any blue-ray disc movies but I remember thinking how fancy it was when my friends put on a blue-ray disc movie.
Please let me know if you had any of these pieces of technology (or if there is any you wished you had)? Looking through these has sure made me feel nostalgic and I would still love my DS today!
